La Libertad

La Libertad

La Libertad Perú

La Libertad is located in the north of Peru. It borders the departments of Ancash, Lambayeque, Huánuco, San Martín and Amazonas.

This is the only department in Peru that includes the coast, mountains and jungle. Trujillo, the capital, stands out for its colonial architecture and museums. On the other hand, there are its beaches and waves perfect for surfing and windsurfing lovers.

The resort of Huanchaco is known for the caballitos de totora, the first boats used to surf the waves. Chicama is the longest left wave in the world and in Pacasmayo windsurfing is practiced most of the year. It is also an important destination for those interested in archaeology and history. The area was Moche and Chimú territory and preserves important archaeological remains that show the greatness of these pre-Hispanic peoples. In its heights we find small towns that have maintained their charm over the years, forests of Raimondi puyas and even guanaco populations.
